Portfolio Revision and Career Shifts

Hello, readers! No, I am not back to posting blogs on a consistent basis. I wanted to pump this one out, however.

If you have not seen, my videogame portfolio is revamped. That’s what I pivoted to immediately after finishing Project Ellexis Draft 2.0, back in the early summer. Spent the bulk of the summer rewriting existing videogame writing examples, writing new stuff, seeking feedback on the three thousand Discord servers I am in. I am still doing this, but, I am definitely planning on including the novel in my projects. I’ve got one Beta Reader to provide feedback thus far and another on the way.

Besides ideas for additional stories in Ellexis’s space-faring adventures. :)

Alright. The other part of this posts title is I wish to improve my financial life. Maybe I am mistaken, but, I can’t exactly afford a mortage. Or pay down on my student loans quicker. I have decided to try two routes for better careers: an electrical apprenticeship, and planning for GDC 2027. I made it through the application process. It’s now just a waitlist against 150 other electrical apprentices in Portland. Joy!

As normal, GDC - the Game Developers Conference takes place in March. It will be my second time going there, and forking out far less money than in 2025. Good Lord - between the event passes, the flights, the lodging, the food, it costs as much as a used car. Especially those flying out from the East Coast. Even Europe! This is round two for myself in San Francisco, where one hour it is 55 degrees and blustery, then following hour is 70 and sunny.

Hmm. Aaand, yeah, that will do it. Until next time!
